2 of my favorite subjects!

You probably don’t know this about me, but I love archeology – especially the Egyptian flavor. I find the study of ancient pharaohs in splendid tombs to be infinitely fascinating. I also love science fiction – yeah, I even have my own review web site. So when this issue combined both of those wonderful ideas into one story – well, let’s just say that it was right up my alley!

A Sprawling Estate!

When I was a kid reading Richie Rich comic books, my favorite stories were the ones where Richie would explore parts of his mansion or grounds that he had never been to before. Can you imagine how cool that would be! I remember one story where he gets lost in a part of the mansion where there are rooms full of really cool, big toys. This issue had a little bit of that when Richie goes to swim in pool #14 and takes a short cut through a forest! Ah, somehow I never get tired of the endless explorations of a rich little boy!

Another Classic Character

I remember Mayda Munny from the old, classic Richie Rich books – she was a spoiled girl who always wanted Richie to give her more attention, and was always jealous of his girlfriend Gloria. So I was delighted to see her resurrected in this issue of the modern Richie Rich series! I think the new creators did a good job staying true to her roots, while simultaneously giving her a modern make-over!

Extreme Up Trading!

Have you heard about these people who do extreme up-trading? You know, they start with some small object (or amount of money) and then try to see who can get the biggest or best or most expensive object just by bartering? I’ve heard of some pretty cool things, like people who have acquired cars that way! This issue demonstrates that concept as the little master of money himself, Richie Rich, goes about doing that very thing!

New and Classic Richie Rich Stories!

I bought this issue along with Richie Rich: Rich Rescue #5 so that I could try out both new Richie Rich titles from KiZoic. While that one features the new look of the modern Richie, this one sticks with the classic style, and includes new, original stories as well as digitally re-colored old ones. I was impressed with the modern Richie Rich, so let’s see how this one stacks up shall we?

The Rebirth of Richie Rich!

Several months ago I learned that Richie Rich comics were being published again – and I was ecstatic! These were my all time favorite comic books when I was a kid, and I was sad when they quit publishing them. These new ones have been going on for about a year now, but I had heard nothing of them until I saw a small review in Comics Buyer’s Guide recently. I decided to give this new series a try – and I wasn’t disappointed!

52 Pages… Really?

So, the cover of this issue shows that it is “52 pages” – which I took to mean 52 pages of story, however that is not the case. Sure, there are 52 pages in the book, but only 39 of them are actual story pages (and 2 of those are a text story!) Nevertheless, I actually enjoyed seeing and reading the old ads – things like Grit, Hostess, American Dental Association, Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts and the ever-famous Sea-Monkies! They were quite a hoot I tell ya! I’m sure I didn’t like the ads when I was a kid, but now they amuse me to no end!
