Out of the Pan, Into the Fire!

Wow, these Bone fellows sure seem to be on the run a lot! In fact, that is about all that takes place in this sub-par issue. Perhaps if I had done some running myself it would have been a better use of my time! Chalk this reading experience up as the worst issue since the horrible Spawn #21!

Apparently the 3 Bone cousins have been separated, and Fone Bone has just met up with Smiley Bone as Rock Jaw (a vicious, giant cat creature) is about to attack them and a lot of small animal friends. No worries – the group escapes down the mountain and hides in a small cave. After a bit of arguing they take a tunnel out the back way and find an ancient stone temple. Later, while on their way down the mountain, two more creatures attack the group. But before any damage can be done another bigger creature attacks all of them! (Whew! This is starting to look like one of those bad old B movies!) Anyway, the whole gang barely escapes to a cliff ledge as the issue comes to an end. This issue was really a… wait for it… CLIFF HANGER! Ha ha!

My 2 Cents:

  • Story: 2 stars – This was a boring, confusing story that went nowhere. Granted, I am reading one book in the middle of a bigger story arc, but it was still a stinker! I am giving it 2 stars in the wild hope that it is much more satisfying when taken in the proper context.
  • Art: 3 stars – Yeah, there were some cool shots and nice drawings, but there was other weird stuff too. Like the huge word balloons with the itty-bitty words! What’s up with that?
  • Fun Factor: 2 stars – After reading this issue I felt ripped off by a short, ho-hum story, and crappy filler pages! This one really didn’t inspire me to try out any more Bone books.
