Friends, Enemies and Frenemies!

This issue of Dial H really says a lot about friendship and loyalty. We get to see how when one person is a self-centered jerk it usually ruins friendships, and we also see how a loyal friend can help out someone in need – even if a super hero identity isn’t available!

Dial H #3 ended with Nelse and Manteau trying to stop Ex Nihilo and Squid from injecting a man with void. They were too late and this issue begins as “Void Man” gets angry at his summoning and breaks out of his bindings. Lots of people are hurt in the process, while XN and Squid haul Manteau back to their base, where they try to get information out of her. Squid gets discouraged because XN runs off to fight the Void Man with the dialer she stole from Manteau instead of helping him with his void wounds. Now he’s ticked off so he goes to Nelse with a truce and a proposal – team up again XN! Will they succeed? Let’s hope so.

How I Rate This Issue:

  • Story: 4 stars – A much better story (and easier to follow too!) than last issue. The history of Squid and Void Man was really cool, plus Nelse becomes the most unoriginal (yet real) character ever!
  • Art: 4 stars – Still very good and a definite highlight of the issue.
  • Fun Factor: 4 stars – This issue helps the last one make more sense, plus it has a cool story and we get to see the tender side of Squid’s personality!
