Do You Hate Hospitals?

I don’t hate hospitals, but I don’t particularly like being in them either. There is always that “hospital” smell, and lots of action and noises going on. It’s a hard place to relax. But if you don’t like them either, you’ll be glad to know that Matt Murdock especially hates them! Yep, can you imagine having to spend time in a hospital with super-sensitive senses? Yeah, it would probably be quite uncomfortable!

Last issue saw Daredevil give Foggy a hero’s trip through the city. In this issue they spend most of their time in the hospital. It begins, though, with 2 people plotting their carefully planned demise of Murdock, and wondering why he hasn’t fully taken their bait yet. Well, us smart readers know that DD is preoccupied with a couple other things in his life – things like Foggy’s cancer and hot, assistant D.A. Kirsten McDuffie! Speaking of her, Foggy finally convinces Matt to go and talk to her – which he does while she is rock-climbing, and on a date! Way to go Mr. Smooth! Anyway, they mutually break off their relationship, with her stating that she needs to be the star of her own life – which totally turns Matt on! Oh well. So with the help of Hank Pym DD tries to figure out who has been targeting him – but no definitive answers yet. Then, as Matt goes to the office a crate full of crazy dogs is delivered and he barely saves his colleagues while cleverly defeating the pack. Finally, back at the hospital Matt is approached by an unknown person who claims to have knowledge of who is after him – and it looks like the guy is actually telling the truth!

How I Rate This Issue:

  • Story: 4 stars – This is kind of a different story, what with all the hospital scenes and depressing plot lines. But the involvement of a couple of mysterious DD hunters ratcheted up the intensity from just being a run-of-the-mill story.
  • Art: 4 stars – Still very good, with both Samnee and Rodriguez doing excellent work. There just wasn’t any iconic scenes in this issue that pushed it over the top, however.
  • Fun Factor: 4 stars – Reading about Foggy’s cancer wasn’t too fun, but the crate of dogs – now that was cool!
