Just Like The Fun Comics of Yesteryear!

I enjoy the older, adventure comics in the style of Tintin, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover Bandette! I had been wanting to read some Monkeybrain comics for a while, and this was a great opportunity – so I jumped at it. I’m glad I did because this was one fun book that I recommend you give a try!

Synopsis:

This issue begins with Bandette, the young woman protagonist of the story, sneaking into a mansion to steal some Rembrandt drawings. Even though she is almost foiled twice – first by a dog then by some unsuspecting lovers – she still manages to escape. Or does she? A couple of guys on motorcycles give her chase! It’s a good thing she is a well connected crook, because a quick signal to her friends brings in some much needed help!

My 2 Cents:

  • The dialogue was pretty cool. At first I thought it was kind of weird, but as I got used to it I began to relax and just enjoy it!
  • I totally dug the retro-esque and simplified art style! Very cool!
  • The use of Bandette’s “legitimate” friends to help her out was a cool twist! Plus, the set-up for inspector Belgique was quite intruiging!

How I Rate This Issue:

  • Story: 4 stars
  • Art: 4 stars
  • Fun Factor: 5 stars
