The Life of Poog?

Have you seen the movie The Life of Pi? It was a great and very fascinating show. This issue of Akiko kind of reminded me of that movie – what with all the crazy different creatures in the same boat, and the magic that eventually happens between them. A cool story – in both cases!

Synopsis:

“Castaways” : Last issue ended with Akiko falling down a sea serpent’s throat. This issue begins with the monster burping the gang out and then abandoning them. It’s a good thing Gax has a built in life boat – because that saves them! It also gives them the chance to sit around and talk, and Akiko asks who Alia Rellapor really is. The guys don’t want to tell her, but that’s OK because she has already figured it out! Anyway, the crew crash lands on an island with a huge, ancient gate and lots of yummy fruit – which has an incredible side effect… especially for Mr. Beeba!

My 2 Cents:

  • Story: 4 stars – It started off slow, but the last half of the issue was really cool! The island was a really interesting place.
  • Art: 5 stars – Once again I am amazed at Mr. Crilley’s art – absolutely superb! I love the black and white drawings, and his attention to detail and the way he blurs out the backgrounds is just amazing!
  • Fun Factor: 5 stars – Again, the last half of this issue is where it’s all at! It was totally fun seeing what happened to them on the island.
